Netflix deal adds to online movies
LOS ANGELES - Netflix is snatching away several movies a year that would have gone to pay TV outlets such as HBO or Showtime, under a deal with film financier Relativity Media LLC announced last week.

Since vacation time and leisure funds were scarce this year, a lot of people found themselves going to the movies a lot more often than they normally would. For me, it was business as usual. I typically watch at least a hundred movies a year, if not more, but always have a difficult time making a best-of list. For the purposes of this column, I'm limited to picking films that were released this year, which cuts that large number down significantly.
